The dog food forms the major share of the pet industry market in the country around 80%, followed by the shares of the cats and other pet animals in the country. The major emphasis is on the dog food, as most of the people in India consider dogs to be a friendly animal and many are adopting and growing dogs as their children. The pet industry in India is estimated with an earning potential of around Rs. 350 crore, out of which Rs. 250 crore is provided by the pet food industry and the remaining are contributed from grooming the pets and growth of the pet industry sector. The pet food industry is seeing a huge renovations, which is expected to grow at a rate of 10-15%, especially, providing a variety of dog food in the market. The growth of pet salons and pet grooming clinics are yet to strike a huge development in the country.
